Today’s State budget has provided little joy for Davidson residents, according to local MP, Jonathan O’Dea.

“Not only are local residents now burdened by a Labor Government which has thrown the State into a $1.3 billion deficit but when it comes to spending the money, there is little to show for it within the Davidson electorate and Northern Sydney.

“This is despite clear local demands for funding and ongoing efforts to highlight the needs to Government,” Mr O’Dea said.

“Where is the money for the much touted Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest? By contrast, a Coalition Government has committed to commencing construction during its first term,” Mr O’Dea said.

“There is still no funding for additional public transport at St Ives. The rapidly growing Town Centre is not on a train line, yet the Transport Minister advises me there are no plans for any new bus stops, or a central bus stop, in St Ives,” Mr O’Dea said.

“I introduced two Notices of Motion in Parliament today, highlighting the lack of extra real infrastructure investment, as well as the huge amount of waste and mismanagement from this Labor Government.

“Following considerable lobbying for a greater allocation of funding for local public schools, I am pleased the budget provided for upgrading Roseville Public School – to be completed in 2012.

“However, I again express my disappointment that other schools, particularly Killara High School, have not received capital works allocations. The need for more land, new permanent buildings and improvements to existing facilities at Killara High School has been well documented.

“A future Coalition Government will better address such community needs, with a vision for the future and better financial management of valuable resources,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
