Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea, has presented a petition to the NSW Parliament, calling for the immediate construction of the proposed Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest.

“It is clear by the hundreds of signatures on the petition that the community wants the new facilities built as soon as possible. I know adjoining MPs have had similar responses from their constituents.

“It is equally clear there is a desperate need for the new hospital as existing facilities become outdated and face increasing pressure through population growth,” Mr O’Dea said.

The Petition, addressed to the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, said:

The undersigned residents of the Northern Peninsula express our concerns at the Government’s failure to deliver the promised Frenchs Forest Hospital and ask that the Parliament demand that the Government immediately commence construction of the hospital as promised by the Government in order to avoid grave consequences for health care delivery for local residents.

“However, a question I put to the Government on roads in the area appears to indicate the new hospital hasn’t even been approved!

“By contrast, the Coalition is committed to commencing construction of the new hospital as a matter of priority. We also need further upgrades to Mona Vale Hospital,” Mr O’Dea said.

“The Coalition has heard the community and acknowledges the desperate need to upgrade services.

“That’s why the Coalition is committed to commencing construction of the new Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest, during our first term in Government,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
