Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea is demanding to know why the Premier is exhibiting a double standard when it comes to apologising for the inconvenience of blackouts.

“Last week, the Premier quite rightly apologised to the residents and businesses adversely impacted by two blackouts in the CBD and Eastern Suburbs – but where is the apology to the residents and business owners in the Davidson Electorate?” Mr O’Dea asked.

This morning, homes and businesses in the St Ives and Pymble areas lost power from around 9.40 following what I understand was an underground cable fault.

Fortunately power was restored by midday but it’s the latest in a growing list of blackouts in Davidson, which have resulted in some people, serviced by the Belrose zone substation, enduring TEN blackouts of longer than a minute, since Christmas Eve!

“The Premier appears in the media, unhappy with the CBD blackouts and demanding better service, but what about the people of Davidson?” Mr O’Dea asked.

“When will he apologise to Davidson constituents who have been unable to enjoy a hot meal or hot drink, while they sit in the dark? When will the Premier apologise to business owners who have lost business and been forced to throw out valuable spoilt stock because the State Government can’t keep the power turned on?

“I have asked the Premier in writing, what action has been taken by his Government to provide Davidson constituents with more certainty regarding their power supply,” Mr O’Dea said.

“I have also asked the Premier when will he apologise to people in my electorate for their lengthy and widespread blackouts?

“It’s time Davidson constituents were treated with a better level of service and the same level of courtesy as those in the CBD and Eastern Suburbs – instead of being repeatedly left in the dark,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
