Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea, has welcomed a New South Wales State Government announcement to extend the cut off date for solar hot water system and rainwater tank rebates until 2011.

Mr O’Dea said the cash back scheme was due to end at 30 June 2009, but the State Government had accepted a recommendation from the Commonwealth Government to leave it in place.

”Through State and Federal rebates, consumers can now claim up to $2,800 for climate friendly hot water systems and $2,000 for rainwater tanks.

“This extension will provide an even greater incentive for NSW householders to improve water and energy efficiency,” Mr O’Dea said.

“A change to the NSW insulation rebate has also been made, with the Federal Government’s insulation rebate covering the entire cost of installing ceiling insulation up to $1,600.  As a result, the $300 NSW insulation rebate will end on 30 June 2009.”

“The $150 rebate for 4.5 star washing machines remains unchanged. It will still be available until 30 June 2010.”
