The State Labor Government’s appalling lack of commitment to the much-needed Northern Beaches Hospital at Frenchs Forest has been further exposed, according to Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea.

“In response to a question regarding Warringah Road intersection upgrades in the vicinity of the proposed new hospital, I was told further work would be ‘subject to the hospital being approved’!  (Source: Parliamentary Q&A # 4899)

“So the truth appears that, despite State Labor’s ‘trumpet blowing’ and fanfare announcements, the government hasn’t even approved the new hospital!

“In 2007, one of my first questions in Parliament was about the promised new hospital facility,” Mr O’Dea said.

“The then Health Minister responded by saying, planning should be completed by the end of 2007 and that construction was expected to begin shortly afterwards.

“Now, following a question to the Roads Minister, nearly two years after the first question, we are told the hospital hasn’t even been approved,” Mr O’Dea said.

“The people of Northern Sydney deserve far better. They don’t deserve to be treated with arrogance and contempt – nor be forced to suffer under a government, which simply cannot get the job done!

“No wonder the new Health Minister will not meet with northern peninsula MPs,” Mr O’Dea said.

“The government needs to come clean and tell the full truth about their plans.

“When residents need hospitalisation, they do not need false promises – they need proper facilities,” Mr O’Dea said.

This week I am writing to around 5,000 Davidson Electorate residents in the suburbs of Forestville, Frenchs Forest, Belrose and Davidson, highlighting the Coalition’s policy to proceed with the new hospital as a high priority in government,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
