Shadow Minister for Health Jillian Skinner, along with local Liberal MPs in Northern Sydney and the Northern Beaches today announced an O’Farrell led Government would begin construction of a new Northern Beaches hospital at Frenchs Forest in its first term.

“This policy announcement will secure the medical and healthcare of thousands of families in Sydney’s north that have been neglected for over a decade by the State Labor Government,” Mrs Skinner said.

“An O’Farrell led Coalition State Government will begin construction of a new Northern Beaches hospital in its first term, delivering for local families,” she said.

“Despite years of promises the State Labor Government has proven it is not interested in honouring a commitment to build a new Northern Beaches hospital – John Della Bosca shows no signs of reversing that position.

Local Liberal MPs are united and committed to delivering this important health facility:

“The promised Northern Beaches Hospital will be a reality. Even today the Health Minister, who is supposed to be the Health Minister for the whole State, is refusing to meet to discuss the issue. If Labor doesn’t build it – the Liberal/Nationals will.”  – Liberal Member for Wakehurst Brad Hazzard

“If Labor has any integrity it should deliver on its 2006 promise to build our new hospital. NSW residents and particularly Northern Beaches residents deserve and need promises made by Labor to be fulfilled.” – Liberal Member for Manly Mike Baird

“Local doctors have said patient care will suffer if the hospital isn’t built and we will not allow that to happen. The State Labor Government’s high-handed approach to making promises to Northern Beaches residents, which it then fails to keep, will see it judged at the next election.” – Liberal Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes

“Northern Beaches doctors and patients need a new hospital as soon as possible. We will deliver on that need.” – Liberal Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea.
