“In attempting to revive what is arguably the worst state economy in Australia, the Mini Budget has again demonstrated the New South Wales Labor Government’s Appalling and Amateur approach to financial management – and its Arrogance towards the electorate.

“In Davidson, this arrogance is highlighted by flagged changes to the WSN Landfill site at Belrose,” Mr O’Dea said.

“WSN Environmental Solutions is currently a statutory, state-owned corporation with none other than Joe Tripodi (Finance) and Eric Roozendaal (Treasury) as Shareholder Ministers!

“Now, as part of Labor’s Mini Budget, WSN Environmental Solutions will apparently be sold – but not before activity on the Belrose site is expanded, which will make the sale price more attractive,” Mr O’Dea said.

“Despite previous promises and undertakings to local residents, the WSN Landfill site at Belrose is now proposed to take an extra 180,000 tonnes of landfill, raising some areas by as much as 13 metres.

“In addition, plans for public recreational use of the area, once landfill activities have been completed, appear to have been shelved. Residents were only told this by WSN representatives at a meeting I attended yesterday,” Mr O’Dea said.

“As a result, it appears the State Labor Government’s plans to sell have simply “sold out” local Davidson and northern Sydney residents.

“At best the latest plans are a breach of good faith – at worst they represent deceitful manipulation of long-suffering local residents and sporting groups.

“On behalf of the local community, I am calling on the Government and the WSN Board to establish clear pre-sale guarantees, that take greater account of local stakeholders, who will remain behind, well after the State Government has sold the site and spent any sale funds,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
