Nathan Rees has been a Minister in the NSW Labor Government that has lost revenue at a rate of $90 million a month and now faces a budget blow out of $1 billion.

In an absolutely amazing statement today from the new Premier, Mr Rees admitted that "I don't have the time, nor the inclination, to examine why we've got those estimates wrong."

Premier Rees also said "I don't have the luxury of examining how that occurred".

This prompted Jonathan O'Dea, Member for Davidson to state that, "We do not have the luxury of a Premier and Government that do not know what they are doing!

“If you do not understand what went wrong, you can not properly fix it," Mr O’Dea said.

"Mr Rees, promoted to the top job on Friday after just 18 months in parliament, has been clearly promoted beyond his capability.

“I fear for Sydney’s north, which has already been neglected by New South Wales Labor,” Mr O’Dea said.

“There is a lack of Ministers in the NSW Government with any real private sector experience relevant to managing services.”

“Like so many of his colleagues, Nathan Rees is just another Labor Party or union hack, as was Morris Iemma", Mr O'Dea said.

The NSW public is understandably counting down to the next general election in March 2011 and should punish the Government in the NSW by-elections in Ryde and Lakemba on 18 October,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
