Jonathan O’Dea MP will be joining more than 80 of his State and Federal colleagues across New South Wales as they are put to work as part of the NSW Business Chamber’s annual Pollies for Small Business program.

Jonathan O’Dea, Member for Davidson, will be visiting local businesses Lindfield Pharmacy between 10:30am to 11:30am, and Swimart Lindfield between 3pm to 4:30pm on Friday, 15 August 2008 (both on the Pacific Highway, Lindfield).

Jonathan said he was looking forward to the experience of being in a small business operator’s shoes on the day.

“As someone who has previously personally experienced the frustrations and challenges of running a business, I look forward to spending some time with important local retail businesses,” Mr O’Dea said.

Kevin MacDonald, CEO of NSW Business Chamber said with much of the focus often on the big picture issues, some politicians can at times lose sight of the concerns of small business.

“Pollies for Small Business puts our politicians at the coalface and gives small business operators the chance to raise their concerns directly with their local MP”, said Mr MacDonald.

“Last year 83 State and Federal politicians took part from the major parties, greens and independents, including the Premier and NSW Opposition Leader.

“This is a great program.  It helps businesspeople and MPs understand one another better and we should encourage and support any measures that can help achieve that”, Mr MacDonald concluded.

The NSW Business Chamber Pollies for Small Business program is run in cooperation with the local Chamber of Commerce network.
