“The State Government’s lack of action – and apparent lack of interest – on important public transport issues, provides little joy for local public transport users,” according to Davidson MP, Jonathan O’Dea.

“Twelve months after public forums were held on local bus regions 12 and 14, all we have is a one page letter from the Ministry of Transport saying work is continuing and further information can be obtained from a website – if you have the login and password information!

“The Government appears paralysed, “Mr O’Dea said.

“Not one Government politician nor representative from the Government’s transport sector attended a recent forum, aimed at addressing the many transport issues facing Sydney’s north.

“Organised by 10,000 Friends of Greater Sydney, the event provided an excellent platform to foster informed debate on a wide range of transport issues,” he said.

“How is the Government going to hear community concerns and address the challenges of transport in a growing city, if it doesn’t attend such constructive community forums?

“By contrast, seven Coalition MP’s attended the meeting, including Shadow Roads Minister, Duncan Gay and Shadow Transport Minister, Gladys Berejiklian.

“There were many worthwhile suggestions brought forward, which the Coalition MP’s can now progress through their political representation.

“Many of the suggestions appeared to be in line with the Coalition’s Transport Policy for the Northern Peninsula, prior to the last state election,” Mr O’Dea said.

“It is heartening to know the Coalition is across community concerns and possible solutions to the many challenges facing the transport sector.

“For the government, the forum was an opportunity missed.

“For the Coalition, it was an opportunity to listen, learn and further develop transport policy to better reflect community expectations,” Mr O’Dea concluded.
