The Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea is delighted the Deputy Federal Opposition Leader Julie Bishop will speak at his Davidson Business Breakfast on Friday, 4 April.

“Ms Bishop’s past experience extends to working as Managing Partner of a major law firm in Western Australia.  Her solid professional background is valuable and needed in more politicians today, particularly on the Labor side” Mr O’Dea said.

“Ms Bishop will present an interesting outlook on business and politics and will demonstrate the benefits of a private sector background in the political decision-making process.

“The lack of business acumen, proper management ability and accountability in the current NSW Iemma Government has contributed to the current transport, health and other debacles.

“My own professional and business background, where I learned to do more with less, will assist in my future political journey.

“There is no substitute for real-life business experience to assist Ministers make sound decisions to achieve better outcomes for the public they serve.

“It’s time for the ALP in particular, to look seriously at their preselection processes and to stop nominating so many party and union hacks for Parliamentary office.

“People with sound life and business experience have a lot to offer in politics.  I am sure they would perform a better job running the State than the Iemma Government, which has created a real mess with its lack of business nous and its general incompetence.”
