The Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea has congratulated Warringah Council on its improved performance in processing development applications following the release by the NSW Government today of comparative information on local councils.

“The figures are pleasing and show mean times in Warringah improved from 123.8 days in 2004/05 to 64.2 days in 2005/06, close to the comparative council group average of 62.2 days. The median times almost halved from 78 days in 2004/05 to just 41 days in 2005/06, slightly better than the council group average of 43.1 days,” Mr O’Dea said.

“While there is room for further improvement, it is pleasing to note the substantial falls in mean and median times for DA approvals in the Warringah Council area.

“I believe this augurs well for Warringah Council returning to the democratic process at this year’s local government elections.

“If the Iemma Government were as committed to improved outcomes, the State would be in a far better position to provide better public services for the Northern Peninsula.”
