Early Voting

Friday, 01 March 2019

The office of Jonathan O'Dea, Member for Davidson has been inundated by Postal Vote Applications for the forthcoming State Election.

"Many people have indicated they will be away overseas or interstate, while others who have applied find it difficult to attend a polling booth due to ill health or disability," Mr O'Dea said.

"About 1,700 Postal Vote Applications have been received by my office and forwarded to the NSW Electoral Commission for processing.

"The NSW Electoral Commission will post out ballot papers from 11 March so people who lodged their applications should receive their ballot papers in the mail soon," he said.

"Early or pre-poll voting is also available for people who may find it difficult to attend a polling booth on 23 March. While I will be visiting two dozen polling booths on election day, I will vote early at the Davidson Pre-Poll Booth," Mr O'Dea said.

The fully wheelchair accessible Davidson pre-poll voting location is 169-177 Mona Vale Road, St Ives NSW 2075. From 11 March to 22 March, the opening hours are 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday. The hours will extend to 8.00pm on Thursday 21 March. Designated accessible parking is under the building and can be accessed via Shinfield Ave.

Other nearby early vote poll booths are in Ku-ring-gai electorate at Suite 3.02, 828 Pacific Hwy, Gordon, and Wakehurst electorate at 14 Aquatic Drive, Suite G.01 Forestridge Business Park, Frenchs Forest.

"Voting online or over the phone using iVote is another alternative for those with a disability and for those who will be outside NSW on 23 March. iVote can be used until 6.00pm on Saturday, 23 March. To register and find out more, visit www.ivote.nsw.gov.au or phone 1300 24 86 83 (Australia) or +61 2 9290 5287 (outside Australia)," Mr O'Dea said.

On Saturday, 23 March, polling booths will open between 8.00am and 6.00pm and voting is compulsory. The fine for failing to vote is $55.

"My office is happy to answer any questions people may have regarding election processes and can be contacted on 9880 7400 or davidson@parliament.nsw.gov.au during office hours," Mr O'Dea said.
