Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea invites local youth organisations to apply for a share of $1.5 million in NSW Government Youth Opportunities grants.

One-off grants between $10,000 and $50,000 are available to not-for-profit organisations and local councils for youth-led and youth-driven community projects.

“The Youth Opportunities grants enable youth to participate and engage with our community in a meaningful way,” Mr O’Dea said.

“Giving young people opportunities to join, drive and lead grassroots projects facilitates individual development and strengthens our local community.”

Minister responsible for Youth, Ray Williams said there will be an additional $400,000 available to benefit more young people in this year’s funding.

“I’m proud of the additional funding that will go a long way to support our young people reach their potential,” Mr Williams said.

The program is seeking applications that address young people’s identified needs in an innovative way and increase young people’s connections to the community.

Projects should also aim to upskill young people to provide them with greater opportunities for training and employment.

Since the program was launched in 2012, Youth Opportunities has provided $9 million in funding to 177 projects across NSW.

Applications for grants under this year’s program close on Monday 16 July 2018.
