As we approach the season for giving, the NSW Government will invest $299,852 of funding in essential grassroots projects for 11 local community organisations in Davidson. The grant funding is part of the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership Program, which aims to create vibrant, inclusive, and well-serviced communities.

Member for Davidson, Jonathan O’Dea received applications for funding from across his electorate totalling almost $500,000 this year, but only $300,000 could be allocated.

This year, the largest single grant of $80,000 has been allocated towards a new bus bay at the Lindfield Sports Centre. This will enable schools and community groups to share use of facilities provided by West Lindfield Sport and Recreation Club.

Other local sports clubs including St Ives Bowling & Recreation Club Ltd, Forest Districts Australian Football Club, Northern Suburbs Cricket Association Inc. and St Ives Junior AFL Club have received $15,000, $50,000, $15,000 and $30,000 funding respectively. Projects include a new outdoor shade awning for St Ives Bowling & Recreation Club Ltd, new clubrooms and electronic scoreboard for Forest Districts Australian Football Club, larger synthetic wickets at Wellington Oval for the Northern Suburbs Cricket Association Inc. and new female change rooms for St Ives Junior AFL Club.

Davidson children and youth will benefit from $30,000 in funding for a new playground with improved access at Lindfield Soldiers Memorial Park Playground, allocated to Ku-ring-gai Council. The Scouts Association of Australia NSW Branch will be able to repair the leaky roof at the 2nd/3r Lindfield Scout Hall with a $4,994 grant.

At Castle Cove Public School, there will be new air conditioning and storage units for band equipment, with $32,758 granted to the Castle Cove Public School Parents & Citizens Association. Children attending St Andrew’s Anglican Church Roseville will play safely with new fencing surrounding the play area, with $12,000 granted to the Anglican Property Trust Diocese of Sydney.

$10,100 provided to Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Inc. will allow an upgrade from fluorescent lighting to environmentally sustainable LEDs. Chabad House of the North Shore Ltd will have $20,000 in funding to create a fully operational commercial kitchen for community use.

“I look forward to the completion of these projects and the local community reaping the benefits,” Mr O’Dea said.
